Organ.

The organ accompanies the liturgy, choirs and hymns, and provides solo and ensemble music for the Sunday Service (10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary) as well as for weddings, funerals, memorial services, and other services of worship.

The three manual and pedal Schantz organ was first placed in the Sanctuary in 1962 and has had significant enhancements and improvements over the years, most recently in 2011 with the addition of seven stops and two extensions including the Ladd Thomas Trumpet that was installed in appreciation for Dr. Thomas’ fifty years as organist of the church. The organ chamber, directly behind the altar screen, now contains 4,722 pipes.

Choir.

The Cathedral Choir is comprised of amateur and professional singers who provide anthems, service music, and support for congregational singing each Sunday in the 10:30 a.m. Sanctuary service. The choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Membership in the choir is open to anyone with a tuneful voice who commits to  participate in
regular weekly rehearsals and services.
